I have not been able to pinpoint exactly what to put on this page yet, so for now it'll serve as a gathering place for whatever hasn't been covered sufficiently on any of the other pages. Interests I'd like to write in greater detail about, pet peeves, what have you.

( weekly cool stuff )
A spur of the moment thing. I decided to set up a page where I'll attempt to feature something - a film, a book, a CD, whatever - each week that I feel is especially cool. Check it out!

( photography )
I've mentioned that I've taken up Lomo photography. I am, however, not a big fan of the lomography rules. Happy accidents can be fun, but I'm not interested in relying on them. That just invalidates the entire concept of skill. The way the little Russian camera captures light interests me more than the way it can capture random "moments." Others may not agree, of course, and that's okay.

Not all of these pictures are courtesy of my Lomo LC-A. The older ones (pre 2001) are from a borrowed Olympus AF-1; a rather ordinary compact camera. Also, some of the Melbourne photos were taken with a nice, old Canon FP with a 50mm/f1.8 prime lens. My most recent camera addition is a Canon EOS 300 with a 28-105mm/f3.5-4.5 zoom lens. I've also fallen in love with Fujichrome Velvia, which looks stunning, but is a total bitch to scan.

I plan to rescan all of my pictures (from negs instead of prints), add many new, remove several I'm not that happy with anymore, and just plain redo the whole photo gallery section. When? When I have time. Don't hold your breath, then! I'm also currently hooked on star trail-photography. With exposure times averaging about three and a half hours, it takes a while to go through a 36-exposure roll. So don't hold your breath waiting for scans of those pictures either! :-)

( the public eye )
While I generally don't like to be in the spotlight, I've allowed myself to be interviewed a number of times. Typically, the topics have been stuff I know well and feel secure talking about.
