The page for presenting cool stuff. Every week I'll promote something -
a film, a book, a CD, a homepage, whatever - that I've stumbled across
and taken a particular liking to. This week, what engaged my cool
circuits is:
WATERBOYS - THE SOUNDTRACK
Cubismo Grafico has long been one of my favorite
Escalator acts, and I was
thrilled to get hold of a copy of his soundtrack to
Waterboys - a zero-to-hero Japanese comedy in
the tradition of Shall We Dance?,
Ping Pong, Ekiden,
etc, about a male high school synchronized swimming team(!). The soundtrack
does not disappoint. It's an upbeat affair (as one would expect), brimming
over with relaxed, good-natured summer moods and those trademarked Cubismo
Grafico steel drums. I have not seen the movie yet, but the music sure makes
me want to! As luck would have it, the
Japanese DVD has English subtitles.
Here's a sample track from the soundtrack, to whet your appetite.
Track four, Pretty Vacant Scoops.
